(First of all, I cannot believe I never thought to start something like our CafeMom club earlier. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. And I am not the clubby social-networking myspacing type. But I am rubbing elbows and URLs with so many cool women [and even a GUY or two, OMG] over there and FINALLY have a reliable way to bring you new blogs and good Lord, but I am slow on the uptake sometimes.)
Second of all, that smartypants Elizabeth of sandblower.blogspot.com kicked off a great big pimping discussion: what are your all-time favorite entries?
If there's one huuuuuge drawback to blogging as a viable means of self-publishing, it's the whole writing something almost every day. Dude. Even Hemingway would produce some turkeys. But people want updates. You want daily visits. So some days you just type up some words and see what sticks, and then once the baby wakes up from his nap you hit publish, even though you might not really like what you wrote.
(My post from yesterday is a perfect example of this -- I started writing without a clear grasp on what I wanted to write about, deleted huuuuuge chunks with the intention of rewriting them, and then Noah woke up and I just shrugged and published it, even though it had too many run-on sentences and caps and basically had no point or conclusion and wow, it was sort of a LOT LIKE THIS ENTRY SO FAR.)
Then there are days when everything clicks. You write something you are actually really stinking proud of. Something that expresses exactly what you set out to express -- something that bashes the English language into submission and something that makes you happy even on the third or fourth rereading.
Those are the posts we're talking about.
Rebecca of Rebecca is Fabulous mentioned her four favorite posts: Drab is Fab, a lovely tribute to her boyfriend, a post about loving her body for the sake of her daughter's self-image, and the kind of post many of us have struggled to write, This is what depression looks like.
Justin (who I believe is currently our only token dad in the group, but that's okay, especially since he's okay with a profile that insists on calling him a mother all over the place) of JustinRummel.com also pimped four posts: the births of his two sons, and then two funny ones -- The Secret for potty training your child in one week and Checkups and Parties with Girlfriends.
(And I was just about to hit that publish button and retrieve my child from the inside of the Tupperware cabinet, but Ash of Ash in Wonderland just chimed in with her all-time favorite five posts, so I'm linking to them too. Because I am fair and just. And also, holy crap, you must read that last one.) (Note: Ash's site has a Prince video on autoplay, and while I love me some Prince videos and so does my booty-shaking toddler, you might want to check your volume if you're at work.)
Got a favorite of your own? Tell us about it! Don't be all shy and modest -- you know you're awesome.

Dude, you've pimped me! AM.SPECIAL! EVERYONE WILL LOVE ME LIKE THEY LOVE AMY! YES! WILL HAPPEN!
Next project: World domination!

Wow, picking a favorite is hard. I think mine is one I actually wrote while stuck in traffic. It was one hell of a drive.

My favorite recent post is this one about getting tricked into being the Toddler Sunday School teacher at our church. If you've ever read my blog (with all the swearing and stories about alcohol) you would get how terrified I am by this.

Wow...this is totally awesome. It completely and utterly made my day. I think I may cry a little. Thank you so much. Really.

I have two. One about my kids and their ingenuity (sp?!), the other about a naked guy. At a park.

I'm not a mom, but one of my all-time favorite posts is about my mom, so that counts, right?

wow! I am so touched that you linked to our site...especially since we've been stalking your Amalah and Club Mom sites for a while...and that you're okay with my husband being okay with being called a mom (I'm also a member, but he's the prime writer on our site, so he can take all the credit). :)
well, now that I got the baby to sleep for more than 2 minutes, I'm going to take a well-deserved shower.

Among my own favorites:
The one where I claim that childbirth has made me bionic:
http://tere-tere.blogspot.com/2006/05/i-wore-high-heels-to-work-and-this.html
The one where my son is about to turn one and I'm a crying mess over it:
http://tere-tere.blogspot.com/2006/08/oh-lawd-my-boys-all-growed-up.html
The one where I admit I'm contemplating a second baby and am fah-reaked out about it:

The one where I wean and am all poetic about it:

And the rest of my personal faves:

These are a taste of my favorite.
http://blogversary.blogspot.com/2007/03/happy-monday-all-my-fine-friends.html (my mom's obsession with peanut butter)
http://blogversary.blogspot.com/2007/07/puzzle-like-no-other.html (this is a little racy)

My readers seem to like the one while my husband and I tell my son about sex and I end up saying way more than I meant to:
http://www.mytinykingdom.com/2005/07/29/its-natural-but-its-rated-r
And in another case of blabbermouthing, I addressed that Axe commercial and accidentally told the same son what pornos are:
http://www.mytinykingdom.com/2007/08/14/bow-chicka-wow-wow/
I have 2 more sons to corrupt.
I can mess up child rearing like an expert, but I an incapable of making links in comments, I think. Here's hoping.

Sadly, my favorite posts are always the ones that make me look like a bubbling idiot. I wonder what that says about me?? It's no surprise they are filed under the category "Fun With Neurotics".

This is my favorite "serious" one:

And this is my favorite post that started out as just write to write (like you explained) and ended up being right on:

I am proud of the way my writing clearly communicates my passion in this post. That's hard for me; usually my emotions get me worked up so I can't think/write clearly.

I like this post because it was the one that ultimately broke my writer's block and because it helped my husband and friends gain a little insight into my mindset.

Hey Moms check this new doll out!
www.thisismedolls.com
T.I.M.™ Values
We believe in innocence. That children have the right to be themselves, and not feel pressured to succumb to false images of beauty. To feel comfortable in their own skin and learn to love the person they are and will continue to become. We value self-confidence and dedicate ourselves to creating a world where a little girl or young woman can embrace her individuality.
T.I.M™ is different because she has heart. She’s fashionable and stylish, yes, but she has substance. She’s not shallow or mean spirited. She’s not perfect, but she’s not a brat. She’s her own unique individual free spirit – much like the children who will play with and love her. She has dreams and goals and the motivation to go for it. Its time for kids to get real…and T.I.M.™ answers that.
