I don't get why it would have been so awful for the kid to eat the corn raw. What's the biggie?

In the event that you're really asking, Suzy Q, it would seem to me that the big deal is that a kid just doesn't get everything a kid wants.

It's reasonable to plan to serve a child *cooked* corn, and when the child wants to eat raw corn and you say, "No," you can't relent and give the child what they want just because they throw a temper tantrum, as you'd only be validating that behavior.

At least SuperNanny would say something like that, I think.
