Today the blogworld honors the victims of 9/11.
Today 2,996 bloggers will each pay tribute to a single victim of the terrorist attacks.
You can see the full list of participants and tribute links by clicking here. (Be patient though, the site is clearly struggling to handle today's traffic.)
You can also read several tributes right here, by ClubMom bloggers.
Lena of Cheeky Lotus honors firefighter Adam David Rand.
Dana of Since Eve tells the story of a young carpenter, Mauricio Gonzalez.
Anne-Marie of A Readable Feast honors Daniel James Gallagher of Cantor Fitzgerald.
Jenny of Big Slice remembers firefighter Eugene Whelan.
Becki of Cooking With Whine tells the story of Karen Susan Juday, also of Cantor Fitzgerald.
Loni of Finding Joy in the Morning honors Staff Sgt. Maudlyn Alberta White, who began her new job at the Pentagon on September 10, 2001.
Christina of Two Peas remembers Victor Daniel Barbosa, who worked at Windows on the World.
Lisa of Mid-Life Mama tells the story of Jorge Velazquez, a security guard and one of the hundreds of ordinary heroes of 9/11.
Melodee of The Amazing Shrinking Mom honors firefighter Thomas Kuveikis.
Jen of Stay-at-Home Motherdom remembers Christopher Robert Clarke, more affectionately known as "Buddha."
Jenn of Hip Moms & Trendy Tweens pays tribute to Kris Romeo Bishundat, who died at the Pentagon.
Thank you to all the bloggers who participated in this beautiful tribute. Thank you for telling the stories of these beautiful people. We will never forget them.

Amy - thanks for this post, and for including all the links. It's exactly what I need today.

I've only choked up while reading something online once before. I actually bawled all morning while reading these tributes. It's surreal; I look at my five-year-old who was just a baby when this happened and I have to ask, are we different now? Have we changed? Thanks Amy.

God Bless you Tamara and all who lost their lives so needlessly.

Yeah, it's quite a commentary on how much 9/11 still affects us all that dcroe's site is flooded and overwhelmed today.
I took part, as well, honoring Peter Gay, who was on American Airlines Flight 11 when it struck the North Tower of the WTC.

As someone who participated by writing a tribute, I must say that it felt good to do something for one of the victims, to remember the person who left here, not the attackers.

You know, since the 2,996 blog seems to be floundering, I thought you'd like another site that references the list:

How do you access a blog that doesn't have a direct hook on the 2,996 site? I'd like to read the one that honors a friend but I can't figure out how to do it.

The 2996 project was such a cool thing to be a part of. There were so many emotions that ran through me, the strongest being "I need to do this stranger's memory good". I hope I did that.

Thanks for the mention about the 2996 project. I hope people do read my tribute to Major Clifford L Patterson, who died at the Pentagon on 9/11. We will always remember him, and all the other people who died such a senseless death that day.

Thank you for the list, Amy. I am so proud of the ClubMom bloggers who took part. I'm not the blogger who wrote the tribute but I remember Firefighter Vinnie Kane. http://www.mshellb.com/?p=286
