Fat hot ham, you people are creative. With your blogs. And your thinking. I get on my blog and just type type type and talk talk tawwwwk until there are a lot of words, and then I hit publish and then freak out because half of those words are misspelled, and then I read about the cool and organized and THOUGHT-OUT stuff other bloggers do.
And then I go eat Oreos to silence the raging feelings of inadequacy. Ahhhh. Better now.
ANYWAY, the Lovely Mrs. Davis sent me an email about a little party she's throwing in honor of the 37th anniversary of Sesame Street:
If you're a mom or dad blogger, I want YOU to be in on this celebration. To mark the start of Sesame Street's 37th season, I'd like to get 37 posts (but wouldn't it be cool if we had a whole lot more?) from all of you, on your own blogs, that I will link from here on August 14, in a gigantic linky-love extravaganza. Don't worry - your post doesn't have to be about Sesame Street, but it should answer this question:
What television, music, movie or book from your childhood are you excited about sharing with your own children?
A gigantic linky-love extravaganza? I love gigantic linky-love extravaganzas! And not just because they sound vaguely dirty.
If you'd like to join in and tackle the question, Mrs. Davis has all the pertinent details in her entry here. The entries will be featured on her blog next Monday.
(I would write about Sesame Street, except that the first time I turned it on for Noah I broke out in full-body hives at the sound of the theme song, which went from being associated with carefree childish joy to feelings of dread and doom and doooooom, all thanks to a summer job as a Guest Relations Area Supervisor at Sesame Place back in high school and college.)
(That's where I learned how to swear like a sailor and the guy who wore the Big Bird costume gave me my first cigarette. If that's not the saddest Death of Innocence story ever, I don't know what is.)

That last paragraph made me crack up!

Hey, I love big linky-love extraveganzas too. And I like them more when they involve photos. My, that does sound kinky! My husband would be proud.
So anyhoo, I'm hosting an end of summer photo contest at Picture This. Come on over and roll around in that love for a while!

I don't know about other non-parents, but I still have plenty of TV, movie, book, etc. experiences I'd like to share with my hypothetical children!

Sesame street made it possibly for me to recite Elmo's number 5 rap in front of a playgroup which was AWFUL but the only way to make my boy stop crying and clinging to my leg.

I guess Sesame Place is now off our place to take the kid! Ha! Not really. :)

What do you mean "the guy in the Big Bird costume"? Ahhhhh! Are you implying that Big Bird isn't real?!

Something funny about Elmo: the guy who does his voice is a big African American man. Friend of mine met him during a tour of the SS set and said it was so jarring to hear this big studly deep-voiced guy slip into that brain-melting Elmo twitter. Awesome.

Being an idiot, I just typed in the wrong URL for my own blog. COM, not ORG. Doh.

Guy in the Big Bird costume? Oh, no -- that means maybe the Tooth Fairy isn't real, either!
