So I know I'm a good five days behind here, but I would be a crappy -- nay, downright irresponsible -- tyrannical blogging overlord if I didn't make sure that everybody got a chance to read this honest and incredibly brave post by Meghan of My Dog Harriet. It's a story that has taken her nearly two years to get up the guts to share with us:
When my daughter was tiny and helpless and newborn, I was afraid to walk by the butcher block on the kitchen counter while I was holding her. I was afraid that my body would involuntarily pull a knife from the butcher block and use it to hurt her. And I was terrified. I didn’t know at the time where these wild thoughts came from, but I know now. I was suffering from postpartum depression.
Enough said. Go read the whole thing.

Thank you for this- just thank you

Wow, usually people kind of skirt around the issue of PPD saying its the "baby blues". I admire Meghan for her very uncensored (and far too familiar) account of her thoughts during PPD. If only I (and others) had the courage as well maybe a really frank discussion on the subject could be had and others would recognize those thoughts for what they really are and seek help sooner!

You know, Andrew Shue may not appreciate your poking fun at his sister's Cocktail co-star. :)
